Q: What is the purpose of the web shop?
Over the years people have asked many times “Where can I buy this” or “Can you make one for me”.
So I have decided to run (small) batches of these boards and offer them for purchase through the web shop.
Please feel free to comment on what products you would like to see in the shop next.
Q: What does this mean for my open-source open-hardware projects?
Great question! And don’t worry. All of my projects will remain open-source, open-hardware and also I will continue to release my future projects as open-source, open-hardware. So things will stay the same.
The idea is that the web shop will server two purposes:
First, it will allow people to get a exact same, fully populated board that they see in my videos.
Second, it will allow people to show support my work.
Q: Why is _X_ priced like that. Is it maybe a bit high?
Right now most of the boards are produced in very small batches. I am hoping that this will change in the future. But for now this means that there is no volume pricing from the manufacturer or the board shop. And also the NRE (Non-recurring engineering) cost that the board shop charges for each build is amortized over a small number of boards. And of course there is shipping, taxes…
I am hoping that in the future I will be able to offer all of my projects at a reasonable prices.
